Our mission incorporates the following:
Greetings!

It's another fine fall day here in Rapid City, and with the Fall season comes renewal time for our annual memberships to the South Dakota Society of Radiologic Technologists. Membership information can be found here under the "About Us" tab. Scroll down to "Membership" and all the directions are there. Membership can be done completely on line or filled out and mailed in. If you are not a current member and are interested or would like to be a member, we invite you to join and be a part of one of the strongest affiliates of the ASRT.

The Fall Board Meeting was held recently in Kimball, SD. I would like to take the time to thank our host and our Legislative Contact Sharon Wartenbee (Sharon is a SDSRT Life Member and ASRT Fellow) for the outstanding hospitality. We met on Friday night and had supper and caught up on everything going on in our lives. On Saturday we held the Board Meeting and covered many areas needing attention within the SDSRT. The agenda is posted on our website with meeting minutes to be added soon.

The Radiologic Technologist Programs throughout the state continue to provide strong membership within the society. In return the society provides a source for all those who want to be involved and be fully engaged within their professions. South Dakota was fortunate enough to have some outstanding students chosen to intern within the SDSRT and the ASRT. Ben Davis and Jill Deutscher were both selected as student interns with the ASRT; and Amanda Munderloh and Alyssa Klein are the current SDSRT student interns. Ben, Jill and Amanda attended the ASRT House of Delegates meeting in Albuquerque, NM and received a good look at some of the behind the scenes activities in maintaining the standards of our professions. If you are a student looking for a professional advancement opportunity and would like to find out more on this internship, please go to our website and contact us or apply for the internship by completing an application under the Student Internship tab.

Our society wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for all of the members of the SDSRT and especially the dedication and support from our life members. I wish to thank everyone for your continued support and if you would like to run for one of the future SDSRT Board positions, please let us know.

Please feel free to check this site out and look around. The SDSRT will be featured in the Dec/Jan ASRT Scanner Article "Closer to Home" providing information on the new web site.

The SDSRT continues to be one of the strongest and most active affiliates of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists in the nation. We continue to work with the other state affiliates and the ASRT in supporting the CARE Bill legislation.

The Spring Conference in April will be here before we know it. The conference is a great time, offering multiple educational meetings, entertainment and the best part of all, the chance to meet our counterparts from throughout the state and surrounding states. I hope to see all of you in Watertown on April 19-21 in 2012.

Thank you,

Mark Harder B.S. RT(R)(CT)(T)
